A National Green Building Standard was approved by the American National Standards institute (ANSI) on January 29th, 2009..
To arrive at the standard the National Association of Home Builders and International Code Council assembled a consensus committee of folks from the green building community.

ICC 700 ,as it is known, will apparently compete with the U. S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. Many of the articles I consulted on the subject referenced this rivalry but only one saw a need to elaborate.
