Here's your hat. What's your hurry?

.
As I mentioned in the post New Beginnings my in-laws will put on a new outfit for New Years Eve. Here at the Junction we have made ourselves a brand new masthead for 2009.
.

.
It took a little time to find the right combination of color and message as the above collage illustrates. Characters came and went because they made the page too busy. Overall, I like this new look and the added notion that this blog can be a receptacle for all of my interests.
.
The title of this post refers to slowing down and enjoying the journey. There is an idea put forth by Stewart Brand in his excellent book "How Buildings Learn", he writes about letting a space cook rather than rushing it to completion. In this way a project helps to inform itself about what it needs to be. While this may not work for everything we certainly can afford to do it here.
.
I have just learned that Stewart Brand has uploaded the BBC television series based on "How Buildings Learn" to google video. It is in six parts:
.
Part 1 - Flow
Part 2 - The Low Road
Part 3 - Built For Change
Part 4 - Unreal Estate
Part 5 - The Romance of Maintenance
Part 6 - Shearing Layers
.
Happy New Year everyone!
